true, yet i think that's what they attempted with the design of the current mustang. i remember they kinda advertised it as a retro influenced body-style. i think it almost worked, but with the great response by the people to the new chevy camaro they had to come up with something new. the current mustang cant compete with that. and they're trying to push their sync audio platform so they gotta bring out something fresh. the interceptor kinda has a retro 4-dr mustang look to it.

i dont think they'll have many problems with the sync system its just a connection for your mp3 player with voice activated commands. im pretty sure they've put enough time into the development to make it run efficiently. i agree with you, although i like the mustang concept obviously the interceptor makes a bolder statement. i'd love to pull up next to any 300c in that. hell id love to pull up next to the police in that. but true they would have to offer a v-6 model, i mean the fully kitted v-8 would just cost too much. i currently have a 05 crown vic. nothing much done to it but audio work. im a car guy, i like a mean engine and booming bass but i dont know shyt about the technicalities and all i can install on my own are radios. but i love cars. neway, im debating on what to invest in next which will be my american muscle car. i've had an acura, and an older 944. i'm just debating on what to save up for, 2 many new concepts out 2 decide.

yes i know concepts are rarely the finished product although the ones i have seen have been rumored to be as close to the finished product as it will get. mose of the changes that will be made are talked about on the ford website. i know 07's not gonna happen and 08 is a maybe. either way im thinking now because i dont lease cars, nor do i like monthly payments. every car i've had i paid the total amount so it doesnt take forever, but saving takes a while. im leaning more towards the interceptor neway and yes i know thats a concept, but anything like it will be fine for me. im just gonna strip it down and go custom neway.

i personally don't like the concept mustang nearly as much. But the intercetor i think is really awesome. I really hope that ford comes out with that one with the advertised engine, plus a v-6 and a smaller v-8 to compete with the 300. The sync system sounds like it is going to be a cool thing, i just hope they don't have problems with it. I think ford is definitly on the right track.

King- Please don't hold your breath!
Concepts are just Concepts.
It doesn't mean that they will ever be built at all.
Sometimes they are, but more often they are not ever anything else other than a manufacturer showing off the technology that they are working on. & some of that technology does go into production , after years of R&D
Take, for example, the concept Thunderbird of 1998, it actually did go to production, but not until 2002. & even then it was limited production & was only supposed to be offered for 3 years.
(like the '55-'56' & '57) but Ford did offer it as an anniversary edition in 2005 (50 year)

I've been in the auto business since 1983 & I work at the Chicago Auto show every single year.
I love the concept vehicles, but it isn't very often that they actually ever get manufactured.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you'll never have your dream car ....I'm just saying that between now & then (could be YEARS) you may be enjoying other 'masterpieces' that actually are available to the public now & at a reasonable price!

When & if a popular concept car does become available, they become instantly expensive, & people get put on a waiting list to buy them at a premium price.

I hope you enjoyed the show, I'm assuming you went to Detroit(?)
If you didn't ...maybe I'll see you Feb 9-18 at the Chicago Auto Show! I'll be checking out the Intercepter in person there!

I agree with Ethol. I really don't think that concept will get built. Ford already has an update due for the mustang in a couple more years. Then a complete redesign is scheduled for around 2012. By then design concepts and ideas may be WAY different than the current concept. And if by some crazy off the wall chance that it does become the new mustang, my current one will just have to last.

I do not believe that the automobile will ever pop out. It is only a mustang with an Italian twist. It is handiest intended to exhibit off what the Italian fashion designer Giugiaro can do. There is and article approximately it in a Road and Track journal from a couple of months again.

It's a very attractive auto. I wish they would bring back the classic Mustang and update the interior and motor.....a '69 body style with today's technology would be incredible.
