there's nothing to panic about when on a jury. i hope you can overcome your disorder enough to be able to function as normally as possible in everyday society. serving on a jury may be a good stepping stone for you. it's your duty as a citizen to serve if you can. if you think you will freak out, warn the court clerk -- give him/her a call and let him know the situation. they will be able to determine if you are required to show up. they may have such a large pool of people that he will excuse you. look into it.

I have panic disorder too and I should have tried to get out of jury duty but since I don't go to the doctor for it I figured that I couldn't get out of it (I had a panic attack in the middle of the D.A.'s closing argument and they had to recess court). If you go to a doctor for it then I'm sure the doctor could write a note and they would let you out of it!

It's not very hard to get out of jury duty. All you have to do is inform them of your disorder and most likely they'll release you from duty.

Not by itself.

Many people with panic disorder take medication that keeps it under control.

You will have to submit a letter from your doctor stating, in detail, your condition and why it would be detrimental to you and the others if you try to participate.

Nope, tried it. Say you are nursing your newborn exclusivly. It always works. I've had almost 7 kids as far as my county is concerned.
