New Car Advice (UK Only)?

I am looking at getting a new car, hopefully a rover 214.

is it worth paying the extra on the insurance for the 16v model instead of the 8v model, i have also been told the 16v is very unreliable.

and is there anything i should look out for a on a car when looking to buy ?
