Hi Oopsie Daisy. An example of 'manner of death' might be: "Blunt force trauma to the head". The cause of the blunt force (and therefore the 'cause of death' might be:

1) Automobile accident

2) Physical assault with a hammer

3) Falling off the roof and landing on the head.

All of these could cause the same 'manner of death'. But, obviously, each is a different 'cause of death'.

manner accidental , natural , expected, sudden unexpected,
murder, suicide, age related, within hospital care, recent discharge from hospital, unintentional or intentional,suspicious.
known or unknown . and unintentional death due to high risk behavior . are all manner of death .
cause of death is what exactly failed in the body heart lungs
brain, this is listed along with major contributing factors such as cancer. type of cancer area of cancer. manner of death is most often the reason for an autopsy in some cases the manner of death makes an autopsy mandatory .

cause of death is what caused the death.

manner of death also includes the circumstances which caused the death.

If some was shot in the heart with a bullet. the cause of death would most likely be excessive internal bleeding in the heart caused by a bullet. the manner of death would be that the person was shot.

The second statement someone/something caused the death, and first statement was simply the way he died (not necessarily someone's fault).
