Ok guys. I know I asked this same question earlier but we are still trying to decide and I asked a question the other day about this and since then we have come up with 3 names we like. He is a 7wk old black labradoodle puppy. The first name is Sirus (Sie-rus). I like this name because it is strong, easy to call, and masculine. The second name is Ozzy. This is the name my mother likes and is sort of a neutral between mine and my sisters. The third is Cosmo. It is ok, buy my sis is the one that likes it the most. I think we will get tired of it after so many years but I thought I would see what you guys have to say. Also if you have some names throw them at me. Thanks!!

Ok guys I guess I should have added that I am 14 and it is the family dog, not just mine so we all will be taking care of it. Also I think there is a lot of speculation of what a labradoodle is. A labradoodle is a cross between a lab and poodle, ours is a F1-B. That means its mother is a first generation labradoodle (50-50) and the father is a AKC standard poodle. Labradoodles were bred in 1989 to try and find a hypoallergenic seeing eye dog for a blind women whos husband was allergic to dogs. Right now they are what you would call a "designer dog." Soon though they will be AKC but even though they can still run a hefty price tag of $1000+. Luckily we got ours for only 300 because it was local and they are black, most desirable labradoodles are apricot in color, which are a lot more. THANKS TO ALL WHO ANSWER!!

Sirus and Ozzy are good choices. Dog trainers recommend 2 syllable names since commands are usually one syllable. Also, the name "Cosmo" sounds too much like "no." If you choose to use a different word to correct your dog (other than no) Cosmo might be okay. If you don't, the dog might become confused and think that when you say "no" he is just having his name called or vice versa. Hope that helps!

The first dog we got as a married couple is a Cockapoo and we tried out different names, I even asked this question here. I got a lot of great answers but eventually we named him what he looks like: a Snowball. The next dog we got to keep Snowball company, being the very active male dog that he is, we were given. The name I had chosen due to the inclimate weather that that day had was Tsunami. But she proved to be the most gentle dog and during the 2 hour trip back from our 4 hour stay at her former owners home (bumper to bumper all the way home). I thought of a cutsie name like Melody and I even called her that as soon as we got to our side of town at the vet's. But that didn't do. She was such a good friend on our trip back home that I decided to call her My Friend, but in french. The feminine version is Mon Amie, and the male version is Mon Ami. So her name became Monamie (moh nah mee). If you're going to be the one that is going to be training her the most then by all means name him Sirus. But here are a few masculine names you can pick from if you choose:
1. Dakota
2. Arizona
3. Indigo
4. Nanook (Inuit mythology for the master of bears, responsible for punishing hunters that did not follow appropriate taboos.Mythic.)
5. Sierra
6. Gizmo (just thought it was cute)

Ok now wait a minute. Who's dog is it? Ideas from loved ones is a great tool, but your the one that is raising the dog. Give the poor little guy a name that suits you, not your sister. Your the one that will be yelling his name when he acts up, not your sister. There is nothing wrong with the name, Sirus. Its very masculine. Brody might be a good name for a big dog, but who cares. The decision is yours and you might want to speed up the naming process or else it won't matter because he will be to old to respond to any name. Let us know what you finally call the old boy.

We had a lab mix named Ozzy when I was a little kid. Personally, I think I like Sirus the best, but it's really up to you guys, and if you think any of these fit the personality of the dog!

I like Sirus
The best name I've heard for a male dog in my opinion is Orion. Orion was a hunter. It's regal like Sirus and feels like Ozzy when you say it, but it still is linked to space (Orion's belt) like cosmo. Just a suggestion. It was the name of my Dad's beagles father.

I've always liked Zac. Short name, sounds macho and easy to say if you have small kids. Out of the names you have listed, I'd go with Ozzy. Sirius might confuse the dog when you teach sit or stay. Cosmo...Come? Tongue teasers :) Either way...enjoy your new puppy!

you should name him OZZY i think its a really cute name because i think that Sirus is a name that the dog has to live up to like if he was a rescue dog or somehing and for the nameCosmo i agree with u on that one.

Hi,
I'm from Australia and as you know we get called Ozzy's. So go with Ozzy. It's a friendly down to earth name.
And as us Aussies like to say.
"Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy ...Oi Oi Oi"
It doesn't matter that we spell it a little different it still sounds the same.
Take a look at this site, it makes more sence why we say
"Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy ...Oi Oi Oi"
