Hi Angel...generally, when a cat exhibits bad breath it could be a result of either periodontal, kidney, respiratory or liver disease to diabetes, skin disease (involving tissue around the lips) or oral trauma, such as electric cord injury. However, by far, the most common problem associated with bad breath is periodontal disease. All which will require a veterinarian's evaluation to treat respectively.

The most likely reason your cat has bad breath is from dental problems. You should take the cat to the vet and have its teeth cleaned regularly - usually every couple of years. The vet will also look for diseased teeth and gums and if necessary deal with problems of that type.

Go to a local Pet store I suggest Petsmart and at the food section or the cashier register you could buy Cat Mints (I had 2 dogs with similar problems and the mints worked! I think that is the name of the mints though, it's been a long time) and there are directios in the label! Good Luck!

The only thing that works for my cat's bad breath is regular teeth brushing with a toothpaste specifically for cats.

Cats require dental treatment just as people do. Make an appt to have your babes teeth cleaned.

In the meantime, don't make your cat feel bad about the breath they have no control over.

try giving your cat treats daily with tartar control or try these.. i gave them to my cats and I never noticed any foul breath...
Give it a few days before you'll notice a difference. Also cats (like dogs and human) need occasional teeth cleanings- your kitty may be due for this.

Brush the cats teeth. The bad breath is probably caused by gingivitis. Yes, even dogs and cats need proper tooth care.

The pet stores sell these treats called Greenies. They're supposed to be tasty to cats, but also freshen their breath. Worked for my cat! I have a link to the website, you can order a free sample.

Cats need to get their teeth cleaned every so often just like people. Take your cat to the vet; they'll know what the problem is.
