I started my baby on cereal 2 weeks ago. He gets an ounce at bedtime and them 5 ounces of breastmilk. At what age should I start him on fruit?

I started my son on cereal at 4 months and then introduced one veggie every few days starting at around 5 months. My doctor recommend starting veggies before fruits as kids think the fruit tastes better and you might have trouble getting them to eat vegetables if all they like is the sweetness of the fruits.

Fruit and vegetables can be started at 6-9 months.

Cereals are not necessary, they can be offered at 6-9 months BUT it is better to wait until after 9 months and offer homemade whole grain cereal that isn't full of oil, dairy, preservatives, stabilizers, etc. Prior 9 months or later babies can't really digest grains.

Also you do not have to do that whole "one new food per week" or pureed food. Most of the world does not and they have less allergies than North America. North America is way to neurotic about food. http://www.borstvoeding.com/voedselintroductie/vast_voedsel/rapley_guidelines.html

I think once you have started cereal you can begin to introduce fruit. Try a new pureed fruit each week or every few days to watch for allergic reactions.

how many months is he? I started my daughter on oatmeal w/fruit(Gerber) when she was about 4 or 5 months. When you go for check ups the Dr. will say when it is ok to start, or you should just ask him. I guess it is all up to you also when you feel he is ready, just try a little at a time and see how he react towards it.
