i don't understand why people follow religion do you really think some magical being is going to whisk you away to a magical land when you die. I just think its engrained on peoples dna, essentially religion must to have started out of fear, obey what i say and what my god says or you'll get hurt? thats real benevolent

With a name like Lord Diabolus, you're not gonna have much credibility in asking a question like this.

But...I agree with you. In ancient times, people couldn't explain why certain things happened, like thunder and lightning in the skies. So they attributed those natural occurences to a "god" or "gods". Eventually some clever people came to the realization that religion could be used as a tool to control the masses. And that's what it is today. Religious people are essentially ignorant wishful thinkers.

Because the alternative is to believe that no one is looking out for you at all, and that we are all dust in the wind. Some wanna believe they'll go someplace better after they die, some like to believe in a benevolent force with the ability to help us. And it adds a sense of humility to a person to bow before SOMETHING.

Religion is only a word to name something. I don't believe technically and spiritually in a word. I however do believe there is something out there much greater than myself. If that thing out there keeps a bright light on my hope, my love, my strength I am all for it.

Even if it's made up, it at least allows you to have some hope. No matter the religion, it also gives us morals to live by. I think it's better than the alternative.

It's an attempt by the human mind to try to explain the unexplainable and organize the results therof. This results from the true human desire to be fulfilled.
