It is faster these days unlike yesteryears you have to wait forever.
A few weeks after you and your attorney send in your application, you'll receive a receipt from the USCIS from the mail. Then days to weeks later (2-4weeks), you receive a notice to go take your fingerprints. Whatever you do, do not miss this appointment for fingerprints. After that, could be days to weeks, you'll receive another notice from the USCIS telling you when you need to appear at your local Immigration Office for the initial interview. They send you this notice a month ahead of time so you can prepare and gather all the documents (originals) you need to take with you to the interview. Do not miss this interview. If an emergency comes up, there will be a 1800 number on the notice to call and reschedule, do it ahead of time. If you don't do this, your application could be denied.
If you have questions, don't hesitate or afraid to ask your attorney. Thats his/her job to answer any questions you might have, they're there to help you. Thats why you hired that person in the first place.
Hope everything works out for you and your wife and be patient.

Hi, I just went through the whole thing. My husband and I filed in January-2003, and he just got his appointment in Juarez in January of 2007. Just last week. He got banned from the united states for ten years. Now I am not doing so good. My husband has never been in trouble here in the states, and he is an excellent father and husband.
I wish you and your wife all the luck in the world. Don't be in a hurry for the appointment, and cherish every moment together!
Char
God bless

1st good Luck to you. Second it's currently taking about a year from the time your i130 is approved until the time of the interview in CDJ. If your spouse broke any immigration law in the past then they will be found inadmissable and not be allowed into the US. For some immigration violations you can fill out a waiver but you need to pro e extreme hardship and best to get a lawyer. You might find the forum immigrate2us.net helpful in the process.

Be very careful in Ciudad de Juarez. Lots of girls have gone missing there. And yes the Mexican government seems to hold things up awhile. Good Luck.

Anywhere between a few weeks to a few months. I shouldn't suggest it, but things may move faster with some incentive on the Mexican side.

It should not take any longer than a few weeks on the US side of things, but Mexican officials are notorious for holding this up.
