The bible is the written word of God. From the beginning that is what is attacked first. It started in the Garden of Eden with Satan asking Eve, "did God really say..." and has never stopped since. In the New Testament Satan tempts Jesus with what did God really mean when He said " if you are the Son of God then surely you can turn these stones into bread" and Jesus corrects Satan's misuse of God's word when He answers that" man does not live by bread alone but by the very word of God". So this means this is not only the current trend it has been the "trend" to trash God's word from the beginning.

I don't know why all the hate, but I can't say that we were not warned.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

i believe the bible is NOT God, but any christian that proclaims they get "authority" from its dead pages and words of ink is either deceived, or a liar. Many christian sectarian leaders proclaim this and just like the jews and the muslims they proclaim the words are PERFECTLY preserved, yet the Jehova witnessess change the words of the name of the lord. So do the Muslim with their ALLAH tradition which is just as much a false witness or using the name of the lord in vain. Ministers in christianity who claim the translations of the bible are "perfect" are just as retarded in believing this false teaching. WHY? because the bible is NOT perfectly translated, i think you can find at least ten different translations with certain verses and phrases that have been altered or changed to fit each sectarian theology. Anyone of which can be wrong completely or says all the others are wrong.
The bible is NOT jesus, but it gives some of the best hope and doctrines of faith in the world.
I try to tell people that in my short life span theologies have turned 180 degress in many areas of the western world according to the same verses studied in the bible. Truth Comes from the lips of God, or the Word, which is Jesus, not from the pulpits of false traditions. especially the false theology of bad interpretation.

Because those who refuse to believe God's word trash it - they don't want to abide by anything God says. I'm a born again Christian and anyone who is truly born again by the grace of God will not trash the bible, but will abide by it. Those who trash it just deny God and His word and want nothing to do with it - just plain human ignorance and 'spiritual blindness' - that's all. Let's just say 'the truth hurts and offends many'.God will deal with them when the time comes. Many people in the bible before and after Christ's birth refused to hear the truth and rebelled against God, so it's not some 'new trend' that just came about recently - it's been around even back in the biblical days. Read the story of Pharoah in the book of Exodus. He was very defiant against God and look where it got him - nowhere. God brought judgment upon him. There are many other examples in the bible that shows that defiance and rejection of God's word is nothing new.

Because the Bible is a mixture of Jewish mythology combined with brainwashing attempts by the early Christian church in the 5th century.

Its not hate it is ignorance and we should be grateful for their "hate" towards the bible and the things they say... It points out all the ones who are in need of our Savior and so this opens us the opportunity to explain and teach the word of God by using verses from the bible, never get offended if some one trys to offend they simply NEED answers and dont know how to ask.

No, the current trend is Bible thumping. And it is a violent, dangerous, crazy trend that menaces our system of government, our scientific learning, our basic human rights, and our educational institutions. Bible trashing is just an immature response to this very serious danger to democratic institutions--the dominionist, or theocratic, movement within the evangelical Christian churches.

Because Christians are generally firm in their resolve. And since atheists regard Christian beliefs as untrue, they see it as dangerous. And they don't want it to spread.

And Christians view the atheist position much in the same way. Hence the intellectual battle.

Yes. It seems to be spearheaded by christian churches who don't really want to follow all the rules in the Bible and are sick of having to defend the totally absurd parts (most of it)....to "update" their religion and make the so-called "Word of God" fit better with today's society.
