Quit promising. You cannot bargain with God.
The only thing you can do is ask for forgiveness, tell Him to help you the next time temptation strikes then most importantly LISTEN TO HIS VOICE, when you are tempted.
It wasn't an accident. You gave in. You buckled, whatever it is you did. That proves you need Christ, because you cannot do it alone.
Everytime I mess up, I ask God to show me a lesson in this. Teach me something. And He always does, even if it is "Listen to My voice."
So, quit making promises to God. Like I said: God doesn't bargain.
God doesn't play that game: "God, if You do this, I promise I will do that." He is in control, not you, and you cannot come to Him under your own terms.
But ask Him to help you. He will be faithful.

remember God is a God of second chances. If you know that you did something and it is wrong, even though you promised God you would never do it again- and it bothers you, then you can go right back to the Cross and renew your heart, and ask for forgiveness- remember He died for your past, present and future sins. When you confess then also go with repentance/
CONFESS- agree with God that it is wrong
REPENT- turn away from that sin and return to God
He loves you!!

You left what we call an "escape clause," or a "loophole" in that promise, and then you took it. So you're off the hook. You didn't break the promise, kiddo. Why be scared? Say 2 Our Fathers and 3 Hail Marys and you're forgiven.

That's why God invented repentence.
He WANTS to forgive you.
