People who have "lost their mind" don't see their behavior as odd or strange or anything out of the ordinary, the world as she sees it is 100% real and convincing someone while they're delusional or what ever the case may be as you do not specify how she has "lost her mind" you will not make her see logic, she is seeing her own logic and you will have more than a tough time trying to show her.
So give up on convincing her something she won't listen to and find new and better ways, tell us all a bit more about her what it is you think she is doing thats so unnatural people on here with personal experience may be able to pinpoint the problem and tell you their own personal stories of how they helped someone with it or helped them self and what are the best methods of going about it.
Goodluck with it and give us some more info
Also a tip Don't treat her as ill don't tell her she needs medications don't say what she thinks is real isn't it's just going to push her away from you talk to her parents or her husband if you think it is a real problem and treat her as a friend not as someone who's sick

What does the role of sister in law have to do with the problem?
Surely this is the same for anyone who has become irrational despite their relationship, employment, or station in life.

As you have not supplied any example I doubt whether you will get much useful response to the question, maybe add in some extra details to explain what the problem is.

How dare you presume she has lost her mind!!! Give her the support she needs while she sorts her self out. Keep her out of harms way and be supportive. She may be a little mixed up but no one looses there mind unless they want too, and she obviously doesn't want to loose her mind.

No one gets better with a negative attitude, and she will only get better by believing she is well and making adjustments on the way. The last thing she needs is any negativity, let her rediscover herself. Be kind to her and say positive things and one day she Will surprise you!!!

Back up and get out of the way from the frigging lunatic until she gets a clue to the reality of her mind set.

Leave it to blood relatives to help her see the light or you'll risk her holding a grudge against you longer than she would others.

Mentally ill people think everyone else is crazy. Obviously this has caused family problems, so you need to go into family counselling. The therapist will find a diplomatic way to tell her that she is "not playing with a full deck".

It depends... what make you think the she has lost her mind. If she suddenly being irresponsible with her children or abusive toward her husband...? If there have been major changes in her conduct or character I would suggest to her husband that they enter family counseling.

firstly if its suddenly happend then it may be dehydration that can sometimes make older people behave like they are loosing it so stop her tea an cofee and make her drink plenty of rehydrating drinks and see if there is any change secondly ... laugh about it if she has lost her marbles there isnt much you can do but live with it and find it funny as it happends to people every day.

well, if she lost her mind, hwo COULD she think properly? Refusing to think so would be a symptom of a mental problem, right?

I have one of those too!
I just try to avoid her. I've tried in the past to help her, but she doesn't want to help herself. Instead of me getting involved and upset, I try hard to stay away from her.
