Both are true ... younger ppl are kids of hippies (flower kids), and have gotten the second msg most of their life; hell is almost extinct in their view ... while their parents & grandparents only go for the 1st one ... and barly understand the second msg.

I would say that--Love and obey God because He loves and wants the best for you--will get a person into church quicker!

I've already answered this question asked by another person. Like I told that other person, You have to love and obey God for his love, and not because of the threat of going to Hell. God doesn't want people to fear him -- He only wants their love.

Both of your statements are very true. What ever one works for an individual is OK. Many people who are scared of hell, if they continue on in their faith will learn of the great love of God and the fear will leave them. People who love God do not fear hell. A sinner may fear hell and that may drive them to God, that is a good thing because then they can be forgiven and receive the free gift of eternal life.

The 2nd one for sure, because we need to make it clear to the world, that our God is a loving and caring one, despite our sinful nature, but the first one is good to talk conscience into some people who just don't care!

umm... isn't is obvious that people would rather hear "Love and obey God because He loves and wants the best for you."? I mean, seriously, Christians need to pull it together. don't you realize you'll never win any souls by threatening them will Hell? talk about God's love and mercy before you talk about Hell. You're only going to turn them off by talking about Hell.

I think the second. While many churches are god-fearing, they don't like their followers to believe its the only reason you should be part of the church.

Neither. How about "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." It's all about clear choice.
