With all this talk about carbon dioxide polluting our earth it would be crazy to say that we are not inhaling more. So, what are the long term effects and is this a serious concern?

The long term effects are worrying, deteriioration of tissue and organs are likely to occur. Perhaps this is why there is a greater percentage of transplants needed in todays society compared to earlier times. If you are subject to very high levels a carbon dioxide of course, death is the result.
It has been suggested that Co2 has contributed to the rise in allergies, tumors carcinomas and many other unpleasant illnesses and that if we don;t try and reduce these gases then we are doomed to extinction.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is harmless to humans, so long as you're getting enough oxygen (O2). But carbon dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere causing climate change, and that's what the carbon dioxide pollution concern is all about. Carbon MONOXIDE (CO) is what forms from having kerosene heaters inside without proper ventilation, and overexposure to it will kill you.

No, not from atmospheric CO2. It is, however, possible to get CO2 poisoning. For example, you run a kerosene heater in a room with no outside air supply. The heater can burn up enough O2 and emit enough CO2 that it will eventually harm you.
