We are moving there in April and are on the waiting list, but were told it was virtually impossible to move directly on post. We have been contacted about availible houses, but each time we have to decline since our PCS date is in April. Now we hear that since we live in housing in TX we have to clear before we can accept one in GA. Just looking for any info. or advice. Thanks....

I do live in Savannah and have heard that is is very hard to find housing on the base. But the good news is that housing in Savannah is very cheap. There will also be a glut of houses coming open soon if the 3rd goes back to Iraq. I would advise living off the base. If you have a few extra bucks down town is great to live in. Not far to drive at all. If money is tight the South side will be fine. Windsor Forrest is a nice place. Lots of military family's live there.
Good luck. Try to prepare your self for Savannah. It is a strange town.
