RE:
How long does it take for Vitamin E to begin to fade scars?
I have dark marks/scars all over my legs from picking at bites etc. People have suggested Vitamin E. I want fast results so i dont have to go through another summer being embarressed to wear shorts. How long does it normally take for Vitamin E to make a difference in the appearence of scars?

Vitamin E has never helped my scars lighten up any. I used it for months at a time. I've used the thick gooey vitamin E as well as the vitamin E oil, but like I said, they didn't help me out and I have a very large and dark scar on my abdomen. Sorry. :(

You should get a Vitamin E lotion - just rub it all over your legs every day. It will work gradually over time. You can use a self-tanner to cover the marks.
If you find that you pick your skin and can't stop, there's a name for it - dermatillamania. Google it - you'll see it's more common than you think. You can try mild anti-anxiety medications or therapy to help you stop.

It can take up to months or years, from my own experience. I'd take both vitamin E capsules and also buy the oil (you can actually buy it in a pure form, such as Bio Oil, which is designed to try to minimise scars but it's a bit more expensive) to rub on your scars.
Allowing your skin to tan ever so slightly also helps to camoflage scaring so, even if you're too embarassed, try to wear shorts in privacy of your own garden if you can. But mind to be wearing sun cream when you do so rather than the oil. Concealor (ordinary concealor or something specialist like http://www.dermablend.com/) or even fake tan is also a good option to hide scars and if they're really bad, you should consider visiting your doctors to see if he suggests anything more.

try massaging them. stretch the skin around it, but not to far. massaging helps. also, it will make sure that the scars don't adhere because tat would call for surgery. gently several times a day for like 5 minute is the max you should do it so you can do it less that that. hope this helps!
