What would happen in healthy people if the vestibular nerve on one side were severed through surgery?

if the vestibular nerve is severed for any reason whether vertigo or accidentally, balance problems would follow. just that for vertigo, at least the first problem will improve and new balance problems will start, for an accident, this is indeed a bad one to have, good luck
