I'm not a male, but I think you probably should have left the area, or covered yourself with a towel or something Even in movies, a flaccid penis is acceptable, but an erect one is not, so there must be some sort of "political correctness" to this issue.
I would guess you're not the only first timer this has happened to, you didn't owe anyone an apology, and no...you weren't "wrong" for having an erection. You just should have been more discrete.

If guys had control over their erections, we wouldn't need notebooks in middle school. Spontaneous erections happen and there's not much you can do about it.
What baffles me some is that you say young teenage girls? About hold old would you guess because young teenagers don't belong at clothing optional beaches. Were you wrong, no. Should you have apologized, maybe in passing, or with some kind of joke to divert attention (maybe something like: "Let's me know it's going to rain soon [then turn the shower on] Yep, I was right. You ladies have a nice day!" But don't linger or carry on conversation unless it's on the way back to your clothes.

I wonder why young teenage girls were at a clothing optional beach. If I were you and 3 young teenage girls with bikinis on came to the same shower I would leave before anything happened like what happened to you.

you may've lined your self up in case you knew you have been going to be in an area the place those with the optionally available clothing may be. And yeah, getting a woody over teeny boppers is kinda pervo, so next time, positioned on board shorts (pun meant).

I think your body just reacted naturally and it was outside of your control. They giggled, which was their natural reaction.
You probably should have turned away and if possible, covered yourself with a towel or something, but it's not like you did anything intentional or made a pass at them so it wasn't wrong as much as embarassing and unfortunate.
Look at it this way, all of you were embarrassed and they have a good story to tell :)

That is seriously awesome. :D
What are young teenage girls doing at an optional clothing beach? They wanted it that's why. You should have offered to give it to them.

I live in scotland so i dunno much about clothing optional beaches... But eugh. How disgusting. Standing about with a stiffy infront of young teenage girls? I call that paedophilia. Obviously you cant help how your body reacts but you should've got it out of their faces as soon as it popped up! I feel sick.
And shame on you above talking about giving it to teenage girls.
