I would suggest to check out the pounds and shelters.......
It may not be a purebred.....
But probably in more desperate need of extending his/her life and would love to please you and your family...can leave a word with the staff there...or put an ad in the media......newspaper..radio etc.

or www.nextdaypets.com
they both have rescue pets. Next day pets also lists breedersand petfinder has a classified section where people can list their pets.
