Any color, really. Warm colors always look great (think reds, yellows, oranges, etc.). You may want to take into account the color of the adjoining room, the size of the kitchen, the color of the trim, etc. I'm getting ready to paint my kitchen sometime this winter and I'm going with a light grayish-blue color since my kitchen is small and has white wood trim. If your kitchen is small or has dark trim, I would suggest sticking to a lighter color. There are quite a few websites where you can do some 'virtual painting' to see how your kitchen may look in certain colors. American Tradition's website has a Virtual Painter. Another thing I do is tape a color sample to the wall and see how I like it for about a week before making a final choice on color. Colors look different at different times of day, in different lighting, etc.

Whichever colors you like. Many people spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It would be terrible to paint it a color you hate just because it is fasionable.

Depends on the size of your kitchen, ifs its a small room, then brite colors, if its a medium size room, go natural, if its large, go a bit darker in shade of whatever you pick.
