Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should...i.e. tats, shellfish etc.
Did you know that your body can at any time become allergic to the ink in a tat? (Dr. Jordan Rubin)
Once you get a tat, if you don't like it...the scar to remove it, is ugly...and removal is very expensive.
I remember wanting a tat when I was young (under 18). When I hit 18, I decided to wait until I was 21. By the time I hit 21, I was glad I hadn't done it...
Now, I'm really glad I didn't!
Time changes things.

I assume you are talking about the bible. These are laws given to the Jewish thousands of years BC. They are "cultural" mandates for those in Israel at the time. Most certainly the reasons the tatoos were bad were because of the Egyptians and other neighboring countries that used tattoos for religious cerimonies. The God of the bible is Jealous, and does not like false gods.

That is the nice thing about the Old Testament. You can pick and choose what to say is God's law which still apply (the 10 commandments, homosexuality is an abomination) and which ones you can say that Jesus the Christ said no longer apply( eating pork and shellfish for example).

According to Torah, all three are bad
Leviticus 19:28
" 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.
Leviticus 11:10-11
"But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales—whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water—you are to detest. 11 And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses. "
Deuteronomy 22:11
"Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together."

Easy. People like shellfish and they like mixed fibers. They don't like tatoos. Ignore the parts you don't like and preach the rest to the world.

For one, I dont think tattoos are bad, the limitations given in the Bible for them was not to get them "for the dead" otherwise there are no laws against them. As for the other part, God showed Peter after Jesus ressurrected that ALL foods were clean to eat. And mixing fibres never caused anyone to be put to death.
