Download speeds are limited by your connection to the Internet. If you're already using Broadband then check that your router is ADSL2+ compatible which enables the latest faster speeds to be used. This can give a useful increase in speed, in my case it doubled.

If you have a problem with the download of webpages then this can be limited by the server at the far end. Improve this by using the FireFox browser with an Add-On called FasterFox. FasterFox allows you to increase the "threads" into the server, ie you can open many simultaneous sessions to build one page.

It is normal that the internet slows down while downloading something, since the download "takes" internet connection.

It's like when you do a lot of things at the same time, you can't do it as fast as if you where doing only 1 thing.

there is a program my friend called gigaget download manager(http://www.download.com/Gigaget-Download-Manager/3640-2071_4-10503295.html),this will double the speeds of your downloads
this program works by locating other download sites, and then joining them together to create a faster download, well thats how it works in simple terms, the actual program is very technical really but as long as it speeds up my downloads thats all that matters
the downloads are then saved in a new file called "td download" located in the c drive of your p.c.
dont worry about using this download manager, its not like some managers that have spyware included in the program ,this is 100% spyware and virus free,i have checked it but please check it again,as you should do with all downloads from a outside source
give this program a go and let me know how it goes
good luck
