Congratulations on your baby. New motherhood is an extremely stressful time, so it is understandable that you are dealing with higher blood pressure.

You can try to increase the amount of exercise that you are getting, even if you go outside and walk for ten or fifteen minutes per day. If you are not able to walk outside of your house, you can get a treadmill to walk on daily.

I have improved my blood pressure by increasing my water intake, cutting out cola type sodas and increasing my intake of fruits and vegetables. This changes have worked, I know that this is the type of thing that you hear everyone talking about, but this really does work.

A couple of years ago I was looking at being put on medication for my blood pressure, and I chose to make as many changes on my own; in order to not have to be on medication for my blood pressure.

You can go on e-diets, the Martha Stewart site and the Oprah site to get many tasty and healthy food choices which will improve your blood pressure. Cut back on any caffeine heavy drinks, such as coffees and colas, this is a big step in itself. Don't be fooled by the "diet" type sodas, they have additives that are even more dangerous for your health.

Cut out the salt intake as well, excess salt will drive your blood pressure up, and can interfere with the normal flow of blood through your veins and arteries. A lot of processed foods contain high amounts of salt, even cereals can be loaded with too much salt, so become an educated label reader.

Hope these suggestions help. On the Oprah site, there are links to Bob Greens newest recipes and meal suggestions, these will lead to general better health.

It is a lot more financially responsible for your baby's future for you too work on these self-help type methods, rather than spend hundreds of dollars per month on doctors appointments and prescribed medication. Your good health is important for you and your family. Have a great day.
