I went to school for graphic design back in the late nineties. There I learned to use QuarkXPress. After graduating my jobs out of school did not use Quark. And I just got my own computer last year. So I'm really rusty when it come to Quark. And I have never used Indesign. I might be able to buy the program in a month or two. Which program is better to use and learn?

They both have their strengths.
Quark was popular for MANY years, but it is now loseing ground to InDesign. I think partly because Adobe has bundled PS, AI, and InD, into 1 package, and makeing it easier for people to start doing their own desktop publishing.
But in my experience I still see more Quark files than InDesign.
And I work for a printing company and we take disks from designers, and the majority is still Quark.
If I had to say, I would say the breakdown is:
Quark at 40%
Indesign at 25%
PDF files at 25%
and the last 10% is miscellaneous PC crap applications such as word, excel, publisher, and powerpoint, etc....

Also, InDesign has issues with alot of the RIPs out there in the world. But thats an issue for us in pre-press to deal with.

I personally prefer Quark, but you cant go wrong with either 1.

Designers make things look pretty, we in Pre-press make them work!
