You need to understand the whole concept of sacrifice in the old Testament. The sacrifice was for the forgiveness of sins and a foreshadowing of the Messiah. Blood is the only thing that will cover the price of sin. However, animal sacrifice had to be done repeatedly because it was not the perfect sacrifice.
Because God loved the humans he created so much he sent the perfect sacrifice to pay the price for sin once and for all. The Bible says Christ died once and for all sin and sat down at the right hand of God. The sacrifices are no longer needed because the ultimate, perfect sacrifice was made at the cross of Calvary.
Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
God will never change his mind about sin, He cannot tolerate it but the perfect sacrifice of His Son, Jesus can clean up even the most sinful person, no matter what he or she has done.
I hope that helps. You may want to read more of Hebrews chapter one for additional information. The book of Hebrews in the New Testament compares the old covenant and the new covenant. It is very interesting.

God required sacrifice in the Old Testament period as a picture of what was to come. Each sacrifice given in Leviticus is a picture of the work and person of the Lord Jesus Christ. When Christ, the perfect, sinless Lamb, came to die on the cross for the sins of the world, the final sacrifice was made (Isaiah 53). Now, a sacrifice is not needed (in the New Testament period) due to the final sacrifice of the Son of God. All we have to do to be with God in Heaven is believe on that sacrifice and trust Christ to take us to Heaven as He promised (Romans 5:8; 10:13).

Jesus sacrifice was the ultimate sacrifice for all time.
The animal sacrifice were no longer required.
God does not like it when people die. That is why he send his son so many will never have to die and if they have died, they have the hope of living again.

The old testament was one covenant and the new testament is another covenant. The old covenant is obsolete and useless because it has been replaced with a new and better covenant. As you said there is no need for sacrifices any more because the perfect and final sacrifice was finally offered for mankind's sins, Jesus the Son of God. God never changes but man has. Thousands of years ago man was like a child and God dealt with him on his understanding level. Now mankind is older and able to grasp spiritual concepts and understand that we can never pay for our own sins no matter how many sheep or bulls we sacrifice to Him. Only Jesus could pay for them and we are put right with God when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

in the OT God needed people to do animals sacrifices for forgiveness of sin- because without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. If you look at an overview of the whole bible, you will see that those sacrifices were a fore-runner to the ONE TRUE SACRIFICE- the perfect spotless lamb of God- God's son Jesus. When Jesus died on that cross he was the scapegoat- the one who died in our place- after that no sacrifice was needed because it was for the whole world- did that help?

God liked sacrifices in the Old Testament, but now, we don't need to do them anymore because Jesus payed the final debt for our sins. "Just as man was destined to die once and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him." (hebrews 9:27, 28) "We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." (hebrews 10:10)

Hi,
God does except sacrifices today, our sacrifices to God in todays world is the gift of salvation, when you receive Jesus as your lord and savior you give the ultimate sacrifices.
God wants nothing more then for us to sacrifice our soul to him- by believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and who so ever believe in him shall not perish but have every lasting life. THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICES. good luck.

Because Jesus paid the debt for the ultimate sacrifice.
Plus, God is looking for people who will sacrifice their selfish, sinful life and receive a new life, courtesy of the Cross.

Heb 10:11-14
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified
:
Jer 7:22-23
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
:
Hos 6:6
For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings
:
Rom 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service
