My theory is that people are looking for an excuse to overindulge and when they hear there are health benefits to chocolate or wine they don't want to notice that scientists also say "in moderation". It's a way for Hershey's Dark Chocolate to advertise itself as a health food becuase they encourage you to eat it in moderation.

Dark Chocolate is indeed good for you, but it has properties which act as blood thinners. This is also why it is considered "heart healthy". However, people who use blood thinners, use a lot of aspirin, or already have problems with blood not clotting must use caution. That is why Hershey's suggest you use moderation when eating dark chocolate - they should be commended for being so responsible.
I teach water aerobics and tell my students to limit their consumption of dark chocolate to 1/2 to 1 oz. a day (with doctor's permission if using any other drugs, etc.)

I think it has more caffeine? A couple of months ago, there was a study that if you ate a little dark chocolate before a meal, you wouldn't be as hungry. Maybe Hershey is afraid people will start eating a ton of that and skipping the meal. Who knows? Maybe someone sued them for having too many zits?

A little dark chocolate is good for your heart, but too much can cause weight gain.....hence why they say in moderation.

I think it is because since it is more healthful there are people that will in turn over indulge and loose the benefits by over eating it. Like all foods, it should be consumed in moderation.

I thought that they were trying to tell people to eat it slowly. I don't remember the moderation part. I think overall, just take your time and enjoy it without going overboard!
