Symptoms of a UTI include pain or burning when you urinate, urge to urinate frequently but usually passing only small quantities of urine, dribbling, pain or a feeling of heaviness in your lower abdomen, reddish or pinkish urine, foul-smelling urine, cloudy urine, pain in your back just below the rib cage, on one side of your body, fever and chills, and nausea and vomiting. Your best bet would be to see your doctor for testing. In the meantime drink plenty of fluids including cranberry juice. There is also an over the counter medication called AZO which can be used for any pain you may be having, but this can only be used for a maximum of two days. Urinate frequently and completely to empty your bladder each time. Avoid soda, coffee, alcohol- anything containing citrus juices or caffeine until the infection has cleared. If you are female, avoid any type of feminine products like sprays as they may irritate your urethra. If you are sexually active urinate after every encounter, and make sure you wipe from front to back. Also cleanse the area before sex.

The urge to frequently urinate (thought not actually seem to get anything out) and a burning sensation are the two main symptoms of a urinary tract infection. You may have an actual bladder infection, however (especially if it's itchy down there). And while the food you eat may affect the smell of your urine, it doesn't usually cause as many different variations as you seem to have (unless of course you're going to a Moroccan restaurant one night, a Thai place another night, and doing Sushi for lunch). I would take a really close look at what it is you're drinking (or rather, not drinking). If you drink say two cans of pop (soda, whatever) a day and that's it, then you're dehydrated, as evidenced by the dark cloudy color of your urine. On other days, when you drink say three bottles of water, your urine may be light and clear. Generally, the clearer and lighter your urine, the healthier you are.

Burning when you urinate.
Possibly a little blood in the urine.
Dark colored urine accompanied by a strong ammonia smell.
Most urinary infections will actually clear themselves out within a few days. You can buy an over-the-counter pain reliever called Uri-stat to help with the urinary pain. It may turn the color of your urine bright orange. I'd also recommend drinking a lot of cranberry juice to help cleanse the kidneys. Good luck!
