get detangler spray and spray it on as best as you can. try to coax the matts out with balm or any kind of conditioning product you can find. you may have to re-wash it and try to comb out the tangles while her hair is wet in the sink with lots of conditioner. good luck in the situation!!!

How on earth did this happen with just body wash?? Odd....
Anyway, this used to happen to my daughter ALL the time. Due to the way she sleeps and moves her head all night, her hair would get under the back of her neck and she would wake up every single darn morning with mats...! Very frustrating especially since she hates brushing it as it is!
I used Mane 'N Tail detangling spray which worked very well. I sprayed it in and worked small areas at a time til all the mats were out. Ughh.....still a pain though.
After one too many hair fights though, I was at my wit's end and I chopped 6 inches off her hair. Now it does not get under her neck as much!

At least it's not gum! Now, you will need to get all of the "extras" out of her hair. Lots of warm to hot water to get all of the soap out. Once her hair is clear of the soap, you will need to use a detangler on her hair and comb it out. Make sure you part her hair into small sections, comb first then brush over with water. Twist that part up with a bobby pin, then start on the next section. Don't over use the detangler, and remember to use water, warm, when you brush through after combing. Also, as a sidebar you may want to give this child two Beyer Children's Aspirin as she is likely to have a headache. Good Luck!

Let a conditioner sit for 10-20 mins. Wash out. Spray hair with a detaingler/leave in conditioner and gently comb out hair. Good luck!

I don't think body wash would do that to hair. Are you sure that's all she used?
Rinse it really, really well with warm water, then use a clarifying shampoo - Neutrogena makes one, or get Herbal Essences Degunkify.

first of all, stop using that body wash!! This should not happen, but it did OK. This is what you do,conditioner, as much as it takes, and wash it over and over again until the hair is back to normal. Good luck, I would hate to be you.
