As soon as the climate changes we have everyone predicting the end of the world, either through an ice age or global warming, yet this world has survived through all these cycles for billions of years.

If environmentalists are cyclic like weather systems then we can expect the next warning to be about an ice age on the horizon.

Let's see: in the 60's it was called "global cooling" and we were going into an ice age by 1980. Then in the 90's they came up with "global warming" and we are supposed to all melt from the heat by 2010. So next it will be "global cooling" again starting in 2020. They'll say we have until 2030 before we all freeze.

Global warming believers are in hibernation? Says who? Are you basing this on the recent cold weather in the western part of the US? Global warming does not affect weather that way - it's a GLOBAL effect and can only be measured over decades, certainly not a few weeks. No single weather pattern can be definitively blamed on global warming.

Sure, the world has survived, and it will survive until the Sun becomes a red giant, in about 4 or 5 billion years from now. But many species will die due to global warming in the next 100 years. Humans probably won't, but our life won't be the same. Sure, it could actually get better with global warming, but I doubt it. Rapid change, as is happening now, is never good for a species or an ecosystem. If the change is slow, things can adapt, but if the change is rapid, things die.
