On instant messaging and other programs when charactars show up in text. Like say someone i.m.'s me and it says I and then they have a heart symbol and then someones name, rite? Ok my computer doesn't recognize the symbol so replaces it with random letters. How can I get my computer to recognize it and be able to send those symbols myself? Like you know how you can download upgrades for Windows MEdia Player and what not, is there a way to do that for font? Please and Thank you

do you have the latest version of your messenger?
another way they may have those "emoticons" is that
they may be using a certain program installed along with their messenger
you should ask your friend(s) if they are using some sort of an "add-on" to their messenger to get those emoticons
