Juleete: my dog does not snap at people. Even if he did it just once he would be quickly corrected. Just because he sits on me doesn't mean he's aggressive.
Fetch, Angelic: so because my dog is possesive of me that means he's dominant and will run the house? Because he obeys my every command and also tries to lick me in the mouth, which i've been told is submissive behavior.

yes, my boxer is neutered and he "sits" (more like a lean)---you'll be sitting there petting him and the next thing you know he's either sitting on your feet or leaning all his body weight on your leg.
They're funny like that.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/cbcix
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

When a dog insists on sitting on you (or your guests) it's a sign of dominance; he's effetively "claiming" you as his property and treating you like a pillow.
It's a common behavior in many dogs, but is a behavior that should not be tollerated if you want to retain your position as the "alpha" of your pack.
If you like having the dog sit on you, you can train the dog to only sit on your lap at your command, rather than allowing him to initiate such contact.

No! It's domination. An Alpha wolf will do it in the wild. It's fine and dandy for your dog to "lean" against the side of you, but unless you want the dog to run the house, you should not allow the dog on top of you.

i have a boxer and he is about 1 year old and he doesn't sit on people so i can't really relate to you. but i have read a lot of boxer books and they are full of information. but they don't say anything about boxers sitting on people. i think it is normal behaviour. did you buy your dog or did your own dog have it? sometimes a dog will adapt other behaviours from their mothers. just like my dog rubs his stomach on the carpet and so did his mother.

Oh that is completely normal. It is a way for them to show thier affection. Big dogs like boxers have a hard time trying to show affections to these big babies will sit on you or lean on you... they can exactly jump in your arms like those little dogs. I had a mastiff that would sit on my foot and lean back on me until I would almost fall over.... just tellin me he loved me lol.

Great Danes also think they are "lap dogs"! All of mine come over occasionally to sit on me, just to let me know that they love me and would like to cuddle up a bit. It's not a male or female thing, they all do it, and seem to have no idea of their size. 160 lbs of cuddle!

LMAO!!! YES!!! Boxers are BIG HUGE babies!! They think they are 10 lbs or something!! Boxers have a very hyper temperament and they are in almost constant need of attention, so this is their way of doing it. My one dog is part boxer and she TOTALLY carries the boxer temperament- she has to be on top of me virtually any minute that I am home with her! Its so cute that they are cuddly and all, but sometimes other people don't like it, and sometimes I don't!
