An extremely elegant theme, but expensive and orchids were named because the root looks like a testicle I guess, and and the word orchid has the same standard root as testicle does. see: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=orchid

Hey, Rosie,
Sounds like a lovely theme. You can make your own favors by buying artificial orchids and putting them in pretty little pots by each place setting. As for invitations, search on-line. I'll bet you find plenty of pretty orchid invitations. Place card holders can be made, just like the favors... and at the same time, if you are smart. If there is a store in your area like Garden Ridge, or Hobby Lobby, or Michael's, you should be able to find what you need quite easily. Good luck to you!! Hope the wedding is beautiful and married life is all you hope it will be!!

You can check this cool website I found. They specialize in themed weddings and parties. They even offer themed personalized favor ribbons. If you do not find what you are looking for, try emailing them. A lot of times they will be able to custom design items for you. They did for mine!

They have VERY reasonable prices and great work too!

I had orchids as a secondary theme at my wedding. I can't help you with those things, but here's how I incorporated them:
-In the flower arrangements, flower girl's pomander and hair lei, ring bearer's bout, garlands, and scattered on the aisle
-Artificial one on ring pillow
-On the cake
-Orchid plants from Hawaii and also loose petals scattered on tables
-As garnishes in the glasses
-As gifts in the form of the plants and also orchid brooches from here: http://www.royalhawaiianorchid.com/html/prod_orchids.htm or here: http://www.loveisarose.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=OJ
-In our ceremony: "When two people are at one in their inmost hearts, they shatter even the strength of iron or bronze. And when two people understand each other in their inmost hearts, their words are sweet and strong, like the fragrance of orchids."
You can get them cheap from Hawaii; just do an internet search.
