There is a lot to be said for Chicken Soup. ;)

Pay attention to your fever, if you notice chills, or start vomiting you should see a doctor. If your flu symptoms are more like a bad cold, drink plenty of fluids and try a product called "Emergen-C" its loaded with vitamins to help your body fend off the flu and get better quicker. Aside from that, most flus are caused by viruses and there aren't really any medications that will rid them from your system. That being said, most viruses don't last but a couple of days. If your sore throat worsens, or you notice some white blisters in the back of your throat you'll need to see a doctor--as that could be strep. In the meantime, try some warm tea, chicken soup, a warm blanket, and a good book. Relaxation is the best medicine sometimes.

You should gargle salt water for the sore throat and take some tylenol cold for the pain. Drink some hot tea...IF you think you have the flu the homopathic remedy Ossillococcinum works well. Try taking some Airborne? If you get worse, go to the doctor. Get some rest.
Daytime tv sucks:(

If it really hurts to swallow and you shine a flashlight down your throat and see white pustules in the back then you need to go to the er because it could be strep throat. Otherwise if you don't have strep throat, try taking a whole bottle of chewable vitamin c till you get diarrhea, it's a fast way to flush any virus from your body, and it won't kill you. I also like to load up on the clothes and sweat it out when I don't feel good. Eat alot of garlic and spicy tomato sauce too.

If it still hurts tomorrow, go to get a throat culture to test for strep thoat. They won't do the test if you haven't had a sore throat for less than 24 hours.
Use Lousenges (not cough drops), Nice, Cepecal, something along that line. Call a pharmacist, they will give you ideas for over the counter items.

When we're sick, we're sick- we just have to tough it out. Try comforting things like hot baths for achiness, hot tea, and soup. Drink plenty of healthful liquids and keep your ears covered- cotton balls or a beanie. Your ears, nose, and throat are connected so you want those ears to stay warm.
