Last year I injured my back lifting something at work, and every once in a while the pain comes back and I have to take a painkiller. The problem is, I get VERY nausious after the pill wears off. I have tried to take it with food, but it still happens. Any advice?

I've found that the only thing that helps me is nibbling on saltine crackers.. one of the reasons I refuse to take pain killers is the nausea after they wear off no matter what kind of pills I take..

Never take pain meds on an empty stomach. Eat a cracker, or perhaps drink a small glass of milk.

if you take with food and this does not help then ask the doctor for another pain pill that will not make you nausea

You may want to ask your doctor if there is another pain killer he/she could prescribe for you that doesn't cause the nauseous feeling. I can't take pain killers either, but have found Motrin to work really well.
