if the bible couldnt be found to be true in a court of law why do we allow it in our government?

religions should pay taxes
store hours should be maintained (i dont care if it is jesus's fake b-day)
god should be off the dollar
no statues of religious things on government ground

lets get god out of america!

The books of the Bible were written by those who were divinely inspired and guided and every word is true. Our interpretation of it may not and probably is not always true. God wants us to do our best and strive for truth by reading and studying. It is a constant education throughtout our lives. Also, I want to apologize to those who have been 'pressured' into believing. It is a Christian's duty to witness and some Christians think that means to shoving it down someone's throat. Many Christians wrongly believe that they are saving someone. God is the only one who can save, and those Christians that believe that they have anything to do with it will answer for it someday. My witness is in the way that I live my life and show respect for others. If you are interested, then I will share my testimony.

You are entitled to your opinion about God, taxes, the national anthem, etc. However, for correction, every book in the New Testament was written by disciples. Disciples are followers of Jesus, past and present, and every known author of the New Testament was a follower. Numerous books were also written by Apostles who actually walked and talked with Him. The New Testament is thought to have been completed approx 60 years after Jesus' death. It's your choice to believe or not believe, but at least get your facts straight. Here is the breakdown:

Matthew: Matthew the Apostle
Mark: Companion of Peter the Apostle and Paul (Saul)
Luke: Companion of Paul of Tarsus
John: John the Apostle
Acts of the Apostles: Luke, Companion of Paul of Tarsus
Romans through Hebrews: Paul (Saul)
James: James, the brother of Jesus
1 Peter & 2 Peter: Peter the Apostle
1 John, 2 John & 3 John: John the Apostle
Jude: Brother of James and Jesus
Revelation: John the Apostle

So let me get this straight. Just because something is written after the fact doesnt mean its true? That notion wipes out all of history! Then we couldnt do any history work on the civil war because the time of the civil war has past? Interesting, you live in a funny world.

If the Bible WERE being used as evidence in a courtroom it would stand! Read a book called a "A Case for Christ." It was written by an atheist who set out to disprove and invalidate the testimony of the Bible just to find amazing evidence for it and concluding that it IS valid testimony! He became a believer as a result of the experience too disproving a theory I used to have about unbelievers.

While the bible was written after the fact, it has been assumed that those who wrote it were the disciples of Christ - with most of the books. While pieces do not fit together, the Bible is supposed to be inspired by God.

It wasn't written long after Jesus(The New Testament that is )The Apostles would teach these things until there got to be so many individual home fellowships they couldn't attend them all so they put it to writing.Mark was finished about 45 A.D.That was basically Peter's story handed down to John Mark who's mothers house they had the Last Supper. All the others including Paul's were finished by 90 AD.

:
Isa 30:8-13
Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant

I agree with most of this. No point in going too far though. I quite like having a Christmas tree even though I'm an atheist. I don't think people should go out of their way to be offended.
However, taking god out of America is a noble cause indeed.

There are other authenticity questions relating to the bible... see
http://blog.myspace.com/gunnyrant. The history of the publishing and editing of the book, seldom disclosed or discussed, also leaves some very serious questions as to validity.

There is no quick answer to this. I will give you three names to study that will bring you to your answer.

Contantine the Great
Marcion
Paul the Apostle (Saul)

Bottom line the is that the Bible we read today is the product of a political movement in Rome in the 4th century AD

What difference does it make if James wrote about Christ 60 years after Christ. He still walked with Him, and talked with Him, and touched Him.

Edit: You showed your knowledge when you said James did not write any of the Bible. Check out the book behind Hebrews.
