If you are running Windows XP, click on the Windows Update option on your startup menu and this should go check and tell you what updates you are missing. You can then pick and choose any critical updates and desired optional updates and install these.

I believe you can also go to www.microsoft.com and select the update options from there. That will allow you to update not only Windows, but Outlook, and any of the other Office products.

It may take more than one pass to get up to date. Sometimes a critical update must be installed before any other updates, and it won't allow you to install the others until that specific one was installed.

How do you know they don't apply to you? If you are registered on the update site, it downloads the updates needed for your version of Windows. There are a lot of "Hot Fixes" that may not be considered critical that may nevertheless needed by your computer. If you pick and choose which updates you want, you may miss the very ones you need.

The latest version of Microsoft's Windows Update should have two buttons when you visit their site. One says "Express" and the other says "Custom". To get critical updates, only, you need to choose the "Express" option (which is what it was designed for).

Good luck,
