If a minor runs away, and the parents file a report with the police, a pick-up order will be issued for the child. Once the child is picked up by the police, the child can be placed in detention until a detention hearing is held. Here in Indiana, for a status offense such as Runaway, the Detention Hearing has to be held within 24 hours of detention, not counting holidays and weekends.
Three weeks ago, I had a child on my caseload picked up for runaway. She got to spend Friday night through Monday afternoon in detention. At the detention hearing, she was allowed to go home with her mother, but was placed on Electronic Monitoring. Her Initial Hearing on the Runaway charge will be next Monday.

i had a friend once in highschool who ran away from home because she got in a big fight with her mom about her boyfriend but kept going to school and like 2 weeks later during class they cops came and arrested her they took her to a detention center but didn't press any charges and released her to the custody of her mom. so detention center yes, jail no especially because if you run away ur a minor anyways and cant get convicted as an adult for something like that so u would go to a juvenile detention center but not jail.

yes you can if it's something that you are doing over and over. You will more than likely go to jail but if this a one time thing and you have committed no other crimes in the process then it is not likely to happen. You also have to look at the fact of missing school because then truancy becomes a real issue and these days judges aren't playing around with that.

no, its not against the law. If you steal a car to run away you could go to jail. If you skip school that would be against the law. You could get your parents in trouble, which would just come back on you, so dont do it.

No but you could be placed into a group home or foster home. A judge may order some other things to go along with it including a juv. detention center for counseling.

well, they call it a kid's jail, but you could go to a juvenile detention center. Now, if you're married and have kids, that's a whole different story!

Jail would be the better option, but no.
The pimps and drug dealers will beat you up.
If your parents take you back, they will beat your ***.
