i mean i have seen some hateful remarks coming from the fundie christians all the time on this site and if you dont know if you are a fundie think back on some of the remarks you make and if you are liberal christian you already understand what a fundie and you are to each other. fundies are the most vile hateful bigotted people i have ever met but the liberals are way more open minded and cool with non christians of all sorts.

This argument could go either way. I've met some fundamentalist Christians that were accepting of lots of things, and some liberal Christians, my dad being one of them, are anything but accepting. It depends on the person. What you're doing is stereotyping.

Granted, I can see your argument, a lot of times the fundamentalists judge, despite the fact that judgement isn't up to them. However, they also probably believe that it is their mission to spread and share their faith with others, so sometimes it feels like to outsiders, their beliefs are being forced on others.

As far as the liberals go, I think they tend to be more accepting of gay marriage, for example, than the fundamentalists. Often they believe more that the Bible is a set of hyperboles based in reality telling you how to live, not so much a set of factual occurences. People usually make the argument that the Bible is very dated.

I think that we should stop labelling people "fundies" and "liberals" and just be Christians. There will always be differences in beliefs. However, if a liberal thinks they are more accepting and then turns around and calls fundamentalists names, then I hardly see what makes them that much different.

I do, however, the unfortunate thing is that the fundie types are so vocal they're the only ones that ever get a look in. The real Christians have to sit back and let their name be varnished by the nutcakes.

I think liberal Christians (yes this is a generalization) tend to follow their religion because they can't comprehend dying, or like to feel better about death.

I can at least understand this type of reasoning, everyone is afraid of death, and if someone wants to tell themselves something on a personal level to feel better.....again, I understand.

The fundies are the ones who actually believe this crap, and they're the ones who scare the hell out of everyone.

human beings oftentimes discover liberals greater appropriate because of the fact they have a tendency to be independent some lot of subject concerns. i would not evaluate myself to be a liberal Christian, yet i could additionally not evaluate myself a "fundie" the two. A fundamentalist makes a speciality of the very minor info of his or her faith, lots so as that she or he misses the vast photograph. Christ warned the scribes and pharisees approximately the variety of habit. I take the comprehend God heavily and attempt, to the perfect of my human means, to abide by using His commandments. besides the undeniable fact that, it is likewise my Christian accountability to softly properly suited my neighbor if i be attentive to that she or he's committing sin. i don't think in hate speeches, condemning human beings to Hell (it fairly is not my place to decide or condemn others considering that i'm not God) or thinking much less of them. you ought to do examine or bypass to three church homes to understand what the genuine concept of Christianity is.

I would say that you have it backwards. You are confusing the term fundamental. Southern Baptist and Presbyterian would be fundamental. According to the last poll I saw-about 25% of these groups would actually be "real" Christians. In the liberal ranks (Methodist, Pentecostal/Charismatic) probably less than 10%. In the ultra liberal groups like Episcopal and Universal, probably 0% to none.
Yeah, I think you really missed it.

I'm not a religious person, but I believe a true Christian would be one that is so confident in his or her own faith, that he or she would not be offended or intimidated by others who believe or live differently. Prejudice, stereotypes, avoidance, and conversion of others are all products of fear: fear that people with different beliefs or lifestyles will undermine or weaken the religious community and the influence it has. A person with sincere Christian beliefs would have no reason to act out of fear or hate.

Even non-Christians are more likely to be decent, tolerant, peace-loving people than fundies.
I know, my father and an old friend have turned into fundies. Yikes.
