I have no problem with that. In philosophy it would be considered supernatural.

When you say intelligent design you can somehow overlook or ignore that there has to be a designer. This is what makes the theory of evolution, which tends to be presented as fact in our schools at all levels, able to work. When you have a "truth assumption" that ignores the actual beginning you have to fill in the "assumption" with a "truth" that is not verifiable or able to be confirmed in any way. When you use the term supernatural design then you automatically have to give credence to a "designer" that is not of this world and even possibly not of this realm. When you start looking for the "designer" outside of the "box" of creation then God becomes a part of the equation and man is attempting to define himself apart from God and being a created being.
In other words God is not in the definition of one and is in the definition of the other.

Intelligent Design sounds well..... More Intelligent. It also reminds people that life was designed by a being who is intelligent. This does not make sense. Since we have many flows. We breathe with the same channel that is used for food or water. This design would be avoided by a intelligent designer.
Any way words have power. Saying "Tactical redeployment" sounds better then "Cut and Run."
"I think i can do it" is not the same as "I'm going to do everything to get it done"

Because nobody wins an election or sways the public running on a platform of "supernatural design". Everyone likes learning about something that's "intelligent" though.

The premise of intelligent design is that when we look at things like a TV they are design by an intelligent creature (humans). When you look at the cell or the human body. Two things that are inifitely more complex than a TV. Then logic would tell us that there is an intelligent designer. Therefore the term intelligent design.

I think whoever coined that label or phrase was getting the point across that we believe the universe was designed and created by an inteligent sources whereas the Naturailist (atheist) is forced to believe in "stupid creation" that humanity was created through an unsupervised mindless process known as evolution; that we are a produect of the elements and chance colliding, nothing more.

Because they refuse to say who the Designer is - although if you ask them if aliens did it they hem and haw - aliens are presumbly part of the natural world.
but if they called it supernatural, the jig would be up wouldn't?

Sticking that word 'intelligent' in there makes it seem less like superstition and myth.
Gives it a better chance of passing off as science.
