Christians or non-Christians, you asked a question whether a hypothetical or not, it requires an answer. The question is hypothetical in the sense that God, the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate is never evil. The fear we show is not the same as the fear of some evil and criminal intentions against us but an awe inspired by God's greatness and his reach for Justice and our accountability for what we do in our lives.
Allah knows best.

Which God? The Bible says there are two:
1. The Creator of the heavens and earth, the god of love and light.
2. The god of this world, the slanderer, the adversary, the evil one.
So tell me, do you follow God no 2 out of fear, or are you going to rebel?

If I take my cat to the vet and the vet gives her a shot, it's perfectly rational that my cat might question my goodness. Does that mean I'm not good?
God isn't evil. Evil is defined by His absence. If what He does seems evil to me, how would I go about proving that it is in fact evil? I would have to be His greater or at the very least His equal in order to know that.
If someone told me to do or to believe something in God's name that I felt was evil, I wouldn't do it. One of the tenets of Christianity is not violating the conscience, but I guess you could still consider that a rebellion of sorts.

The God of the bible is evil, in my humble opinion. He uses the tactics of fear and hope for a better life as ways of controlling his followers. Therefore, I rebel.

It's so hard to imagine. If God was evil then He wouldn't have a lot of his other characteristics, either. He wouldn't be worth following.

It's a hypothetical that makes no sense. God's not evil, so I wouldn't follow him.

Thats a dumb question, if God were bad then he would have not died for us, and there would be no need to follow him!!!! Thats easy.
