find someone new that you actually care about and not someone just to replace the last guy (that's the definition of moving on)

Unfortunately a person's feelings does not have an On and Off switch. So it is not possible to just stop your feelings for this person.
You have taken the first (and one of the hardest) step, by admitting to yourself that things wont work out between the two of you. I know from experience that there is nothing worse than blindly hoping that a person will suddenly change and feel the same way about you as you do about them.
The best thing you can do is to try and focus on other aspects of your life, like family and friends. They can really help you by supporting you through this hard time.
As you keep yourself busy with other things, your feelings will gradually fade, but that doesn't mean that they will disappear though...
Even though this person might always have a soft spot in your heart, you will eventually move on and develop feelings for other people. And with luck, they will feel the same way about you.
Wishing you all the best in this difficult time.

Put it down in your life book as one of the lessons you have learned and don't repeat it. A lot of people in your situation turn right around and find some one else who matches their last bad decision and continue to do that for the rest of their lives and wonder where they went wrong. Learn from your mistakes and you will go further and have a more wonderful life than you did when you discovered the rut you were in in the beginning of this relationship. LIVE!!!

Wow good question. From my experience I have to let them know how it just isn't working out for me. This of course has to be told in a delicate calm and caring manner. It isn't an easy thing to hear or to do but the sooner you let them know the longer you wont be leading them on and the sooner you can both start healing and move on.

You stand up and take a look at your life, take a second to realize your potential and then leave what's not right behind.. Anything that isn't good for you isn't going to just all of a sudden one day going to miraculously be good for you.

Learn to live without being in a relationship. It sounds like you need someone in your life 24/7.

If you ever find the answer to this one let me know. K ......To me it seems the worse they are for us the more we want them. I think its just the challenge, or the fact that we feel they have done us a injustice, without any regrets to what they do, and that stays with us longer. I don't know My thoughts

This is a difficult one, but what works best for me is to give 100% to the relationships I already do have.
It happens to everybody... one day you will discover that you don't think about this person so much anymore.
