Not really. When the cross will become obsolete and "creepy" to me, I will have a serious problem. You can't understand, but the cross is the symbol of God's love for me and I ain't giving it up!

Communion can be seen as a technique for transcending through taste. If someone truly believes the wafer is the body of Christ on their tongue, all of their attention will go there, and there mental activity will disolve with the wafer. In this sense it is quite a deep practice.

You're missing the point. Why is His death so precious to us? Why do we celebrate the hope of His return of judgement?
His death is the key to the eternal salvation of mankind past, present and future. Through this, we have the hope of eternity with God. There is no greater gift in existence in the universe.
His return means the end of this perilous life on earth. It is the beginning of His kingdom and immortality. We eagerly await that glorious day.
Hope this helps. God bless.

Matthew 26:26-28
Mark 14:22-23
Luke 22:19-20
These three gospels reference the Last Supper.
The bread represents His body which was broken for us.
The wine represents His blood which was shed for the remission of our sins.
1Corinthians 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

How about the part where this all-powerful entity proclaims that he loves you, so long as you do everything he asks.
And if you don't drink the blood of his son, he'll torture you for all eternity and toss you into a lake of fire (but he still loves you).
yeah, it's creepy.

You need to respect the deepest sado-masochist needs of religious people, who are projecting their sexual fantasies into torture fetishes, with dying Gods at the center.
Can't you see the exquisite beauty of blood flowing down the plaster neck of God himself?
Pleeeeease! Once you join the orgy of martyrdom and suffering, you will have no more doubts!
Creepy, schmeepy. Lick it up, oh dogs of God. Lick that blood.

Well, yes and no.
The bearing the cross, even though it is totally unfair, is a message that once saved my life from depression and a potentially fatal or at least organically destructive hormone disease. I got help, no matter how unfair the problem was.
However, the notion of sacrifice?
Well, it's pretty universal in religions, even though that doesn't make it pretty.
The notion of offering a human in place of a lamb? Yeah, kind of gross.
But you've got no metaphorcial imagination if you can't glean its redemptive (literally and figuratively) powers.

No but it is not the torture seen as you put it but Jesus who was willing to die for our sins. and if you believe its his body and blood I can only think you have a catholic background it is in fact bread and wine or grape juice we take to symbolize his body and blood. the whole of life is a gift from God so we should remember him at every moment.

Worshipping anything other than the One and Only One true God, the creator and nourisher of all that is created, is not forgiven by God the Almighty.
