Your Cat is blocked/inoperative

Classic symptoms of cat going down they do give up that sulphur smell more like rotten eggs but your man is right there could be a coil or maybe other fault leading you towards the cat. A diagnostic readout would confirm this

One possibility is if the cat is begining to break up it could send debris down the exhaust and block it

Check on this before just replacing bits as they are not cheap

hi,

these cars have a roblem with theignition coils., water from the wiper channel escpes dripping right onto two of the four ignition coils. remove engine cover 9silverincolour) straight up, try not to loose the clips, whilst facing th engine the two ignition coils that are affected are th two left ones. remove them by undoing the 10mm nut holding the coils to see if water has gotten in, residue wil be brown indicating water. dry this out with an air blower or compressed air. it should run smooth straight away.

the smell coming from your car is coming from the (cat)alytic converer but does not mean it is faulty, the shaking and loss of power is probably a faulty ignition coil as they are bad for breaking down on individual cylinders causing a misfire which makes your cat smell like eggs.it is 90% of the time a faulty coil but may lead you to another rare fault like an injector blocked.this fault is easily rectified at your dealer with the proper diagnostics.avoid driving for too long or you may damage your cat, good luck..........ross
