It can work, and it can actually be very helpful. You may have to go to two or three counselors until you find the one that works best for you. You want one that you feel comfortable talking to and telling everything to, that way you don't feel compelled to leave anything out, because if you hold things back, you won't solve anything by going to the counseling sessions. After I attended counseling, I usually did feel better, I often times felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders, because I wasn't the only one who knew what my problems were or how I was feeling about things, or what I was having to deal with at the time. It may not work out the same way for you, but it's always worth a try, just to see. I wish you the best of luck.

Yes it can work. You definitely need to have a good connection with your counselor or therapist and be able to trust them so that you can open up to them and let them know what's going on. There are some bad therapists out there and there are some therapists and clients who just don't connect so a person may need to "shop around" a bit before finding one who's right for them.

Also, for counseling and therapy to work a person needs to have a certain amount of motivation to participate in the therapy and try the things that the therapist suggests may be helpful for them. I've heard of some people who expect the therapist to make them feel better ,but honestly it takes a fair amount of work on the clients part in order to make any progress.

most times counseling does work. However you need to find the counselor that is right for you and that you find easy to talk to. If you hide things from him, he really can't help you.
