Actually, it won't do any harm to your hair, but, I don't think it will be giving it the desired effect you seek. You're trying to leave the conditioner on longer so that it conditions your hair more, I'm guessing. Well leaving it on the hair long won't make it sink in more. Your hair follicles are closed, so the conditioner will simply sit on top of them. To get them to open you need to use heat. That's what you will see being done at hair salons. To do this you need to sit under a dryer for 20 or so minutes.
But, you have another option which I so love. I saw this in a magazine. What you do is get a little towel and wet it, then you put it in the microwave for a minute. Then you put conditioner in your hair. Then you put a plastic cap over your hair. Then you put the towel from the microwave on top of the cap. Then you wrap a big towel tightly around your head and leave it on for 20 minutes. It works by trapping in heat and your hair will be silky and beautiful. Just try it once if you don't believe me. I hate sitting under dryers and like to move around and this has been a Godsend.

Nope, there is no time limit on conditioner. When I wash my hair, I don't rinse all of the conditioner out and it leaves my hair really soft and shiny. But if you really want your conditioner to really help out your hair try this. Put the conditioner in your hair, twist it back into a bun with a clip, then wrap a plastic bag around your head. Leave it on for as long as you want, I usually keep it on for a half hour or so then rinse. Your hair will feel so silky from conditioner mixed with the heat from your head.

U should get it trimmed 1/2 inch every 6 to 8 weeks to keep the split ends from breaking off and it will look better to. It's A 10 Light is a great leave in and won't weigh down fine hair

Actually there is no harm in leaving regular conditioner in your hair for 5 hours or for even days. Sometimes I shampoo my hair and leave regular conditioner in my hair and when I do wash my hair...it leaves it incredible softer and healthier...there's no harm at all.

I find that if I leave the conditioner in for more than 5 minutes (just long enough to wash my body) that I can't do a damn thing with my hair afterwards. It's soft but super staticky because it is winter here in Atlantic Canada.

I don't think so. My hairdresser told me to put in conditioner, wrap my hair in a towel and clean the house and then rinse it out about once a week.

No its actually very good for your hair
Hair dressers have told me in the past to do it
If you have really oily, greasy, or flat hair it might not be such a good idea... but its excellent for conditioning
just make sure you get it all out
(btw, its not stupid... : D)
hope that helps
