Now that my daughter is over a year old should I still feed her the baby rice cereal (multi-grain) for breakfast and dinner or should I give her something else? What else is there to give her that is nutritious?
Sometimes I give her normal cereal (cheerios) with yogart....
Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention....
She doesn't like quaker oatmeal - spew....
I also try to give her what we are eating but she prefers to throw that overboard.
She does eat her fruits, veggies, yogart, and cheese. I am looking for other bread groups that will fill her up and not add too many empty calories.

The longer you allow her to eat it the harder it'll be when she has to come off it.

She should be eating what you're eating at this point. At a year old, their systems are mature enough to handle table food and that is what they should be eating (with, of course, the exception of things like honey and peanut butter).

This is an exciting time! She's going to be able to enjoy all the "big people" food just like mommy and daddy. Why keep her on baby food longer then you have to? She might still like rice cereal, but I'm sure she'd enjoy chicken nuggets or a grilled cheese sandwich much more :-)

at 13 months old, she can be eating a lot of the same things you do, as long as they're not a choking hazzard. At that age my kids wouldn't touch baby food at all! She can have eggs, and cereal; fruits and veggies. Feed her whatever you're having, in small portions. Remember that toddlers like to feed themselves so give her the spoon and finger foods. She's gonna be messy, but she'll learn. At this point, there's not really a whole lot she CAN'T have. Like I said, just beware of choking hazzards and cut her food into small pieces for her.

Try offering her small pieces of whatever you're eating. She'll be at the age where she wants to feed herself, so give her things she can pick up on her own - like the cheerios, small pieces of banana, things like that. If she can use a spoon, let her spoon feed herself. You'll have a little mess (if you have a dog, the baby will be the dog's BEST friend!!) but you'll have less of a struggle at mealtimes. You want her to have a variety of foods, and to try new textures as she can.

You should start giving her table food now. Whatever you cook for dinner. Give her things like mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, carrots. Anything soft that you would serve with a typical meal. That rice cereal might be okay for breakfast with applesauce or other fruits mixed in but I wouldn't keep giving it to her for dinner.

It sounds like you are doing everything fine. She can have mashed potatoes, carrots, peas and so on as well. Try flucuating the type of cereal she gets, not just rice but there's all sorts. Try different things. Good Luck

At 13 months my kids where eating (almost)everything we where eating. Just cut it up into bite size pieces and enjoy! Ie, if I make spagetti and meat sauce, I'd give about a cup to my kids cut up into tiny bites and give them a plastic fork and let them go crazy! My daughter (she's the youngest) is 18 months and can feed herself soup with a spoon!!!

I still give my 16 month old rice cereal mixed in with his morning applesauce just so he can get the extra boost of iron.

At this age she can have just about anything. Finger foods are good. I gave my son peas, shredded cheese, cereal, soft diced carrots. Offer a variety of foods so she does not become a picky eater.
