What a soldier far away from home wants in a care package - something that touches him - nothing fancy just a note a card that says I am one American who cares. I pray that my angels are with you and I shall carry you in my heart for your safe return. This is what our soldiers long to hear - To know regardless of the political views we as Americans care.

I know that pictures always touch hearts no matter what! I would take pictures of his favorite things such as his family, friends, cars, toys then send him cards signed by all of his family and friends. Although, try not to make the pictures too in depth as you want your soldier to be happy to see them...not cry when they see them (ya know what I mean) Then there is the no brainer stuff like toothpaste, soap, snacks (Beef Jerky) anything like that.

My husband and his soldiers ask for beef jerky alot!!! They said the beef jerky over there is dried out and no taste. Plus phone cards are good, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, soap and just normal things you would need at home to keep clean.

Everyone always says phone cards... they CAN'T use the same phone cards we get over here. It needs to be a "global card". Otherwise, all the minutes are going to be used up before he gets to the operator.
Foods, snacks, razors, stuff like that. Playing cards... stuff to pass the time.

Whatever you send, a hand written note that says that you care and are proud of them and of what they're doing. What they want most is to be appreciated by the American public.
As far as things, they like beef jerky, magazines and DVDs. Female troops love to get girlie stuff.

My husband is there now and he and his troops like beef jerky, sunflower seeds, toiletries-shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, books, candy, gum, puzzle books (Sudoku is good). Anything that gives them a little comfort of home. DVDs would also be good - movies or TV shows. ALso a note of thanks for their service would be very encouraging. Thanks for caring about our guys over there :)
