I started working out for the first time in a long time as I want to get into shape. However, after a long workout yesterday, I got an airbubble on the bottom of my right foot.

Does anyone know the reason for this?

Sounds like a blister.

It's a blister.. Normally you aren't supposed to pop it, but in your case, it's on the bottom of your foot. The dermatologist I used to work for would tell people that you can use a needle (cleaned with rubbing alcohol or peroxide) and make one puncture in the middle to relieve the pressure. If you do that, make sure you cover it with a bandaid and keep it clean. Don't pick the skin that remains after you do this, it will fall off.

It's a blister. Do what KW says above. Just leave it alone and try not to agitate the area; it'll eventually go away. Don't pick at it once it breaks, either.

It's a blister...cover it with a bandaid and leave it alone.....the bandaid will prevent bacteria from entering if the blister breaks.
