Im sorry I really dont like the idea of Red and Turquiose at all. Although pink and gold seems fresh in a way. Maybe try pink and brown, or gold and white.

Depends on the pink...if you're going with a soft, pastel pink, I'd probably go with silver rather than gold, but if you're doing a more brighter pink, then the gold might work. With the red and turquoise, again, that would depend on the red, possibly a very dark, almost brick/maroon red MIGHT work (but a very dark brown/espresso would be better), but Christmas red and turquoise doesn't sound good to me. The best way to tell is to get samples of the colors, and just look at them--in ALL types of lighting, indoors, outdoors, flourescent (which will really mess up colors big time), candlelight, etc.

Pink and gold sounds nicer than red and turquiose. If you go with pink and gold though, you may want to have a darker colour mixed in there somewhere to give it a little pizzaz, like on the table cloths or centrepieces (a black vase or bowl with light pink and gold flowers, dresses and decorations all around the room would give it a modern feel and allow you to bring this darker colour in elsewhere, plus it would match the tuxes)

Blech....red and turquoise sounds nasty....red is already a bold color and turquoise just does not seem to even compliment it. Where did you come up with that color combo?
Pink and gold sound pretty though. Don't forget to go to the hall/banquet facility if you are having your reception there, and really look at their already existing decor too. Some places are really plain and others are nicely decorated - so you can also try to base your color scheme to compliment the existing decor.

Both can be very nice, depending on the shade of pink and gold, and the shade of red and turquoise.
Personally I think the red and turquoise would make a better choice. Pink and gold can blend together, making it hard to have a nice contrast. Where as a red and turquoise has a nice contrast.
Think of it this way you have a pink flower on a gold napkin, neither one would stand out, but with red flower on a turquoise napkin, both would stand out, and depending on the shade of red and turquoise complement each other.
But this is just my opinion.

Red and turquoise no way thats terrible! Pink and gold??? Not that either. Here are some color scheme ideas:
If you want to use pink use it with:
white
chocolate brown
purple
red
silver (as an accent color)
If you want to use gold:
use it as an accent color
or use it with white and celadon together
If you want to use red:
use it with gold
orange
purple
pinks
white
black
brown
If you want to use turquoise use it with:
white
some people use it with brown
celadon
pink
bright green
You should also base your colors on the season and the setting of the venue. Is it a beach, garden, elegant ballroom, a park, winery?

Not a big fan of either combo, but if anyone can pull odd colors together, it's Martha Stewart. here are some examples of her pink/gold color scheme:

To me red and turquoise evoke almost a retro hawaiin color scheme.
