I am not religious, but am effected by folks who are. They are always hating and murdering in the name of god...Does anyone else see this as so? And if you do can you explain to me why when you are taught not to kill or hate that you still do? It was not beaten into my head but somehow I tend to live and let live, and value human life and feelings, Why can't these religous folks do what they are preached?

I agree. I like God, but I hate his fan club.

They are doing irrational things just because they make the blatant assumption that it is what God wants...

Religious people are by nature quite a peaceful bunch, they are followers though unfortunately the leaders they choose can be quite radical & very convincing They love to hear "God spoke to me and told me we must ______" anything from give all our money - destroy Iraq & take all their oil Whatever they happen to fill the blank with it sure does seem to rile up the masses. No better way to start a war & get people on your side In the name of god.
Don't get me wrong I don't blame god for this just evil men with a god complex

People get zealous for God and funny things can happen sometimes. Look at Paul! He was jailing and persecuting Christians in the 1st century because he thought it was the will of God!

I say better a zealot trying to please God than an unbeliever that isnt willing to lift a finger for God. Who can God mold and use better? Who will be saved?

If they spew hate then they really aren't close to God. I do see this. I've seen this especially in the last six years - at a fundamentalist school. I don't know why they do this. I wish they would do what they say. I especially wish they would love like they say to love.

I wish we would do what we are preached, I do. It is hard. Not to hate, but to really live how we are taught in the BIble without compromise. When we do, we are accused of being full of hate. Really, we cannot win. When we compromise to show tolerance or acceptance of things, we are called hypocrites; when we stand by the Word, we are called Hate.

True followers of Christ neither hate nor murder. But, in our hypersensitive age, it seems if you state that something is clearly a sin, it is called hating. Sorry, we will continue to proclaim the truth of Scripture, whether it is uncomfortable or not.

Some of them do. But for many it does indeed seem to be a case of do as I say, not as I do.

It also seems far more prominent in Christians which is absurd if you know what they are supposed to be like.

It takes their mind off their own sins if they can focus on someone else's sins.
